My GRE

So I've finally taken the GRE. And it was an interesting journey; I hope you find it amusing and thought provoking.

A few words to those of you lucky enough not to have to travel much to take the GRE: you're lucky. Me, here in India, it's a little different. The nearest GRE testing center is just 2.5 hours away, if traffic permits.

Sockdolager

  1. The final answer - the thing that solves the problem.
  2. An extraordinary thing or idea.

An electric flying car - the sockdolager of personal mobility!

  1. The name of a member of a race of female warriors in Greek Mythology.
  2. A female warrior.
  3. A masculine woman.
  4. A specific type of parrot from Africa.
  5. A place in South America, named after the river.

Sobriquet

A nickname, moniker.

My sobriquet is Swift Arrow.

Agnostic

Questioning the existence of God.

Many youth, abrogating adherence to any particular religion, profess to be agnostic.

aerie or eyrie

Eagle's Nest, or nest of large birds of prey.

Adroit

Having skill, cleverness, etc.

Adroit leaders will find that inspiring people to good is easier than advertised

Adjutant

  1. Staff in military or other similar hierarchical structure who handles correspondence.
  2. An assistant, factotum

Factotum means one who has many responsibilities (covering many subjects) or a general servant.

My adjutant has been assigned to write my homework.

Adjuration

  1. An oath.
  2. Solemn urging.
    1. Despite my adjuration to drive slowly, my friend would make no adjuration of caution.

Logorrhoea

Verbal Diarrhoea.

Garrulousness, Loquaciousness, and Logorrhoea are quite related.
